KABUL (SW): The Afghan government on Sunday inked a multi-million Euro deal with the German firm Thales for air space management.
With this agreement signed between Afghanistan Civil Aviation Authority (ACAA) and the German firm Thales at Arg [Presidential Palace], it is hoped the airspace security would improve and annual revenue would surge from $ 40 million in 2014 to $ 57 million in the future. According to the details, the installation of the new system would cost Euro 24 million and it would require annual maintenance of Euro 8.4 million.
According to a statement issued by the Arg, the new deal would enable airplanes to fly as high as 27 thousand feet over the Afghan air space and would pave ways for more flights over it. The new system is also likely to help reduce fuel consumption of domestic flights.
