KABUL (SW): All four armed assailants got killed during the siege of the Intercontinental Hotel in capital Kabul that finally came to an end on Sunday.
The attack began late Saturday when a group of armed attackers stormed the hotel. Ministry of Interior spokesman Najib Danish has said at least four attackers were involved in the attack. He said 153 civilians have been rescued, including 41 foreigners. He confirmed head of the directorate of telecommunication and information technology of Farah province, and a foreign woman are among five people killed in the attack.
Media reports suggest officials from Takhar, Badakhshan, Nuristan and Logar are among 6 people that got wounded. Many guests tried to jump from their rooms via windows, and got themselves hurt.
Manager of the Hotel Ahmad Haris Nayab managed to escape the carnage unhurt. He has said the attackers entered the hotel via kitchen.
