KABUL (SW) – Usually, the public institutions have been criticized by the citizens over corruption and incompetency, but this time a top government official has expressed his frustration in this regard.
Vice president, Mohammad Sarwar Danish said on Sunday a number of public institutions have not only failed to perform the legal duties, but has also been unjust to the masses. Danish said this addressing Afghanistan National Legal Aid Congress.
Without naming the electoral commission, he said three months passed since the parliamentary elections, but there is no sign of initial results, instead allegations of rigging, fraud and in competencies are arising undermining the credibility of the government. Danish said the peoples’ patience has its limits, and the government should bring comprehensive reforms under such circumstances.
The VP feared under such circumstances the forthcoming presidential polls might prove worse than the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) elections.
Ragging conflict and insecurity were named as main obstacles in the delivery of justice in the country. Danish noted there are only 4800 lawyers present in the country while as based on international standards there should have been at least 15,000 lawyers in the country.
