Daesh will be uprooted in weeks: Ghani

15/07/2016

JALALABAD (SW): President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has directed the Afghan National Army (ANA) in the east to totally eliminate the pro-Daesh rebels in weeks.

Ghani said this while addressing soldiers of the 201-Selab Corps on the front line in the east of the country on Friday. Eastern Afghanistan has been worst hit by the pro-Daesh rebels who have sanctuaries along the border with Pakistan. In his remarks, the President directed the soldiers to uproot the Daesh during the ANA’s Shafaq (Sunrise) Offensives. “This is not our internal fight, who ever calls it an internal fight is wrong, this is regional and international war”, he said.

The President added that the international community has made it clear to the enemies of Afghanistan that they cannot win this war, and should instead join peace talks. Ghani assured the soldiers that the international community will never leave Afghanistan alone, and would technically and financially back the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) for at least three more years.

He noted that as many as 11000 allied forces’ men would be deployed in various parts of the country to strengthen the ANSF. Ghani also praised the security men who stopped Pakistan from erecting installations at the zero point in Torkham.
