GHAZNI CITY (SW): A pro-government Jehadi commander in Jaghori district of Ghazni, Habibullah, told Salam Watandar the pro-Daesh Uzbek militants have gathered in the province to recruit fighters.
Habibullah and his men have check posts in Nawa district and alongwith Khak-e-Afghan district of Zabul province. He said the Daesh militants have set-up a camp in the Khak-e-Afghan district. The Jehadi commander asserted his men have the capabilities to rebuff all moves of Daesh here, but are only monitoring the militants for now. He added the pro-Daesh fighters came from Pakistan.
The commander of the pro-government militia feared the Daesh militants might wage attacks on Jaghori, Malistan, Gelan and Zabul.
Assadullah Kakar, deputy chairman of provincial council in Zabul, has also acknowledged presence of the Daesh fighters in a number of areas. Kakar echoed the concerns about the militants aiming to stage assaults in other provinces from here. He blamed the government for not doing anything to counter the rise of Daesh in Ghazni and Zabul.
Discarding these reports, Gen. Mohammad Zaman, Ghazni police chief, said they have not received any such reports about the presence of Daesh in the province.
Two years ago, Daesh emerged in Ghazni and abducted a number of passengers from the Kabul – Kandahar highway. But, following clashes with the Taliban, the group left the area.
