PUL-E-KHOMRI(SW):An official at Baghlan Provincial Council has claimed that Daesh has been recruiting people in Tanga Morch area in Barka district, Baghlan province.
Safdar Mohseni, Head of the Council, while expressing his concern over the activities of Daesh in Baghlan, warned that if the government did not prevent the influence of this group, the situation would get worse than Nangarhar.
He added that Daesh was making efforts to expand its activities to other areas in Baghlan and other northern provinces in the country.
Mohammad Aatif Arefyan, Head of Civil Society Network in Baghlan told Salam Watandar that Daesh has long influenced Barka district and currently has imposed its own rules in some areas of the district.
He said that members of the group encourage locals to fight against the government. He expressed his concerns over Daesh recruiting people in Baghlan and criticized the government for underestimating Daesh in Baghlan.
Abdul Jabar Islami, District Chief of Barka, confirmed that he too has heard of the news that Daesh has started recruiting in the district.
He said that the government would try to identify members of the group and take action.
He added that if it was proven that Daesh was active in Barka district, they would conduct a wide operation to suppress them.
Two days ago, the National Directorate of Security (NDS), released a statement saying that they have arrested four men who were said to be linked with Daesh in Paghman district, Kabul. The statement said that the men were trained in Nangarhar and came to Kabul to carry out terrorist activities.
