FEROZKOH (SW) Pro-Deash rebels have killed at least 30 civilians who were initially held as captive in the central Ghor province.
The incident has taken place in Freoz Koh district of the central Ghor province. Local officials have said that the militants had first abducted these 30 civilians, including women and children, while they were gathering firewood in the mountains.
The militants later tried to steal livestock from the local shepherds but the locals as well as the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) resisted. .
According to Abdul Hai Habibi, spokesman for the provincial governor, (ANSF) killed a commander named Ghulam Farooq of these militants last week in an offensive to liberate the abducted civilians. In retaliation, he said the militants shot these 30 civilians dead. Habibi said that the ANSF have initiated counter offensives against the militants in the area.
According to the officials pro-Daesh rebels are involved in this carnage but no militant group has yet taken responsibility for the attack.
