Daesh militants blamed for snatching teachers salaries

SHEBERGHAN (SW): Pro-Daesh rebels have snatched salaries from school teachers in Darz-Aab district of Jawzjan.

Local authorities have said armed men related to Qari Hikmatullah stopped a car which was on its way to Darz-Aab district in Qosh Tapa area with salaries for the teachers. It is said the militants beat a trustee (payroll officer) and 2 other employees of the provincial Directorate of Education (DoE), and forcefully took with them more than 800 thousand afghanis, the payroll for the educators of 5 schools in the district.

Mohammad Reza Ghafori, provincial governor’s spokesman, told Salam Watandar that the incident took place on Friday at noon in Ober area of Qosh Tapa district when the 3 employees of the DoE were on their way for the payment of monthly salaries of the school teachers of Darz-Aab district. “The pro-Daesh rebels released the 3 government employees after beating them”, informed Ghafori.

The provincial governor’s spokesman further said for proper investigation of the incident a delegation will be sent to Qosh Tapa district in order to know if anyone else other than pro-Daesh rebels are involved in the incident.

Halima Sadaf Karimi, member of provincial council, has said authorities should clarify the incident without delay, and the culprits must be apprehended. She questioned the method of payroll delivery. “How can the authorities be so reckless by transferring such large amount of money without taking security measures”, she said.

Salam Watandar wished to speak with provincial Directorate of Education, but to no avail.

Pro-Daesh rebels in Jawzjan have not commented to media so far.
