SHEBERGHAN (SW): In recent days, the pro-Daesh militants in Jawzjan province have destroyed and looted at least five public schools in the Darzab district.
Maj. Ismael, police chief for Darzab, has confirmed these reports. He informed Salam Watandar the militants destroyed and looted a school in the district center and four others in the Qazal Goch and Mughal Alqani villages. The police chief informed the militants are using stolen iron from these schools to build underground tunnels.
Abdul Hai Yashen, head of the directorate of education, has informed a number schools have closed down due to the increasing clout of the militants. The locals have also expressed concerns over the government’s alleged negligence towards security in the province.
