JAWZJAN (SW): Security officials said the ISIS commander Hekmatullah Ghayur was killed in an Afghan air forces’ airstrike today in Jawzjan.
Faqir Mohammad Jawzjani, police chief of Jawzjan told Salam Watandar that two ISIS foreign fighters and a local commander were also among those who were killed in the attack today.
Jawzjani added that the Afghan National Army has captured some ISIS’s military posts and the security forces will continue its operation in Darzab until the Daesh is fully cleared from the area.
Hanif Rezaee, the spokesperson for the Shaheen 209 Military Corps in Balkh province also confirmed the airstrike and the killing of Daesh commander, and said that the Daesh has already appointed Malawi Habibul Rahman, a resident of Sholgara of Balkh, as his successor.
In the past three years, Daesh commander in the north of the country, Hikmatullah Ghayur has been repeatedly targeted by the security forces, however, each time he survived.
Daesh has not said anything about this incident yet.
