SHEBERGHAN (SW): Daesh rebels have put a ban on women wearing colorful dresses and are not allowed to come out of their houses in Darz Aab district of Jawjan province.
Local officials and a number of residents in the district reported that the Daesh announced the ban in a community gathering in their controlled areas of the district.
Baz Mohammad Dawar, the acting chief of Darz Aab, confirming the issue said that the Daesh rebels have warned women against cross-dressing and wearing colorful clothes. According to him, the group has also warned women not to come from their homes without a male chaperone, especially banning travel to the province capital, Sheberghan. The acting chief of the district also informed that currently, women cannot travel from one district to another without a male chaperone.
Rahmatullah Hashar, the former chief of Darz Aab, quoting local sources informed that aside from imposing a ban on women the Daesh rebels have told locals to evict their homes for foreign fighters of the group.
A number of local residents have blamed the government for negligence. Criticizing the security officials they complained that it has been 4 months since the government’s promise to launch military operations against Daesh in the district, but so far no action has taken place and the presence of domestic and foreign fighters in the district is on the rise.
Mohammad Reza Ghafori, the provincial governor’s spokesman, showing concerns over the increasing presence of Daesh rebels and Taliban insurgents in Qosh Tapa and Darz Aab districts, expressed no awareness of the recent ban on women by the Daesh.
But, he assured that military operations to wipe out rebels and insurgents from the districts will commence soon.
