SHEBERGHAN (SW): Local officials in Jawzjan province claim the pro-Daesh militants are forcefully preaching their so-called Caliphate principles to over 200 religious and prayers’ leaders.
Hafeezullah Nudrat, member of the provincial council, told Salam Watandar that the militants have abducted these religious and prayers’ leaders from Darzab and Qosh Tapa districts.
The locals are expressing concerns if the government kept mum over growing clout of the militants, the terrorist group would spread its activities to neighboring Sar-e-Pul, Faryab and Balkh provinces.
Mohammad Rasul Mujahez, head of the Jawzjan Ulema Council, said in this regard that the pro-Daesh militants have forcefully compelled the religious and prayers’ leaders via guns to announce allegiance, and attend the ‘Caliphate’ trainings.
Salam Watandar wished to have the views of the security officials, but repeated calls were not responded. The pro-Daesh militants have not commented on it yet.
