HERAT (SW): Mohammad Asif Rahimi, the governor for Herat province started off to criticize the Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) of not fulfilling the content of an agreement singed as yearly as 7 months ago. The governor for western province of Herat on Thursday said that according to the agreement signed between the DABS and a Chinese company, power lines for supplying electricity from Turkmenistan should have been fixed within 9 months, but with 7 months having passed, nothing has been done so far in this regard. Rahimi noted that DABS’s failure to fix the power supply lines would lead to further power breakdown in Herat in coming winter.
The governor for Herat underlined that as much as AFN 90 million were allocated to be invested on energy facilitates in the province, but up to now it has not been done too.
Meanwhile, Wahid Ahmad Kamrani, the head for the DABS in Herat, while acknowledging their fault, noted that lack of clear plan for fixing power supply lines caused the project to be postponed.
Kamrani noted that with the growth in energy voltage supplied from Turkmenistan and Iran, Herat province would not sustain electricity breakdown in coming winter.
The criticism on DABS comes while Turkmenistan-Herat power line has been undercut by insurgents and nearly 300 Herati residents are coping with gloomy nights since the last two days.
