KABUL (SW) – The power utility, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat, has begun disconnecting supply to defaulters in the capital Kabul.
Ahmad Khalid Stanikzai, director business affairs at DABS, told journalists in Kabul on Tuesday the power supply has been disconnected to powerful defaulters who were not paying their bills since years. He said the power utility has managed to recover some arrears out of an estimated AFN 11 billion worth of outstanding dues, but much more needs to be recovered.
The drive to disconnect power supply for such clients began in the capital’s 4th District. Among those losing power supply include former Wolesi Jirga (lower house) member Almas Zahed, former Jehadi commanders Haji Karam Shah, General Anwar, Lutf Ullah and Noor Habib.
The DABS officials said former mayor for Panjshir and another politician Abdul Wahid are also among the defaulters who would lose power supply.
DABS spokesman Waheedullah Tawhidi told Salam Watandar the defaulters would also be referred to the legal institution for justice.
