TALUQAN (SW): A while ago, the video of 22-year-old Suraya being publically lashed by a group of men in Takhar province went viral on social media causing an uproar.
The woman publically lashed by group of men in Takhar province has said she does not have complaints against anyone, and would patiently bear the situation.
In conversation with Salam Watandar, the victim of this mob justice said a local commander Faiz Ullah directed her family members to publically beat her, even if she is not guilty just to intimidate others.
A day earlier, the police in Takhar took into custody six men in connection with this case. Meanwhile, Sunat Timor, spokesman for the provincial governor, has said the real culprits involved in this shadow court ruling are not taken into custody yet. He added a total of 15 men were involved in this incident, and efforts to arrest them, and Faiz Ullah are underway.
Razam Aara Hawash, head of the Directorate of Women Affairs in Takhar, has said many armed men and gangs are roaming around in the province, resulting in more and more violence against women.
This latest incident of violence against women has widely been condemned, and calls have been made to swiftly bring the perpetrators behind it to justice.
