KABUL (SW): Following an impressive victory over Zimbabwe, the Afghan cricket team has left from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Harare to take part in the qualifying rounds for the forthcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

Afghanistan would commence its journey at these qualifying matches with a couple of warm up matches against West Indies and Holland. Later, in its Group B, Afghanistan would face Scotland, Hong Kong, Zimbabwe and Nepal.

These matches would be telecasted live by Super Six and Star TV. Only two out of a total of ten teams participating in these matches would make it to the One Day Internationals (ODIs) ICC World Cup 2019 to be hosted by England.

Afghanistan thrashed Zimbabwe 4-1 in the ODI series that concluded in the UAE a day earlier. In the final match, Afghanistan emerged victorious with a phenomenal margin of 145 runs. Rashid Khan was named as man of the series for taking 16 wickets and also contributing with bat.

Rashid has become the youngest bowler to occupy the top slot in latest ICC Ranking for Bowlers.

Rehmat Shah was pick of the batsmen with his impressive 282 runs in the series with a century and two fifties. Another young and emerging talent, spinner Mujid Zadran also impressed critics with his performance by taking 12 wickets in the series.

Prior to this, Afghanistan also won the T20 series 2-0. So far, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe have played 24 matches since 2014 with Afghanistan winning 15 and Zimbabwe winning 9 matches.
