Cricket: Scotland to face Afghanistan in July

26/04/2016

KABUL (SW): Scotland’s Cricket Board has officially announced that it will host Afghanistan for two One Day Internationals in July this year.

The Cricket Scotland confirmed this via news on its official website. The two Associates will contest two One Day International fixtures, which will take place at the Grange in Edinburgh on Monday 4th and Wednesday 6th of July.

Afghanistan produced a number of impressive performances at the ICC World T20 earlier this year – which included overcoming Scotland in a tight encounter in Nagpur – as they progressed to the second round of the competition, beating the competitions eventual winners, West Indies.

Scotland Head Coach Grant Bradburn said on the announcement of the ODI’s  that Afghanistan have improved over the past year on the back of exposure to International cricket against full member nations. “They fully deserve their current standing as one of the leading Associate nations, and we relish the chance to take them on at the Grange in July”, he said.

He added that though Scotland respects the Afghan squad as a quality team but Scotland also have the skills to beat Afghanistan. “We look forward to locking horns with them over the two match ODI series.”, he said.

Tickets will be available on the gate on both match days.  No advance purchase of tickets will be available. There will be no reserve days for these fixtures.
