KABUL (SW): Impressive performance with the bat and ball against Pakistan’s premier Habib Bank Cricket Club paved the way for five emerging cricketers to join the national squad.

Jawed Ahmadi, Imran Janat, Abdullah Aadil, Nasir Jamal and Ehsanullah Janat would be part of the squad for the forthcoming international matches.

Nasimullah Danish, Chairman of the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) announced on Sunday that these youngsters would join the national team for the tours of Ireland, Scotland and Netherland.

The national team is set to take on Ireland and Scotland for back to back 50-over One Day Internationals in July. Afterwards, it would play a four-day match against Netherland as part of the Inter-Continental Cup match.

All five newly incorporated players in the national squad managed to score centuries against a strong bowling attack of the Habib Bank Cricket Club in Kabul few weeks back. The ACB Chairman said in his message that the board is committed to nurture new talent.

He expressed hope that the youngsters would prove their selection right by manifesting good performance in the upcoming matches.

As many as 11 members of the national squad are in India these days to receive their visas for England. It is however, notable that the final squad for this tour has not been named nor has the board organized a dedicated training camp for the forthcoming matches.
