KABUL (SW) – The Ministry of Public Health has announced that in the last 24 hours, the results of 748 coronavirus tests from 12 provinces proved positive.
With these, the total number of positive cases in the country has reached 22,890.
The Ministry of Health, which publishes daily statistics on the number of people living with COVID-19, said that last night 311 people got infected in Kabul, 181 in Herat, 50 in Kandahar, 78 in Paktia, 36 in Nangarhar, 32 in Badghis and 21 in Parwan provinces. Ten people each in Kunar and Kapisa, eight in Ghor, six in Farah and five in Laghman have also contracted the virus.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Javad Osmani, head of the Ministry of Health, told a news conference that all private health centers would now be allowed to test and treat patients with corona virus.
According to him, hospitals and private medical centers do not need to be licensed to diagnose coronavirus, but they can diagnose and treat patients with the virus like any other patient.
Minister Osmani, however, stressed that no private health center could identify and treat patients with the coronavirus using the rapid testing method.
According to the ministry, 21 patients with corona died last night and another 313 were treated.
So far, a total of 426 people have died as a result of COVID-19 and another 3,326 have recovered.
