KABUL (SW) – The health ministry announced on Thursday that in the past 24 hours, out of 1007 tests, at least 531 proved positive, six people lost their lives and eight others recovered.
Deputy health minister Waheed Majroh told a press conference that an eminent catastrophe is in the sight amid rampant violation of lock down measures. He also urged people to stay indoors, and spend Eid with family members to avoid spread of the virus.
With the latest figures, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Afghanistan so far reached to 8676 with 193 deaths and 938 people recovering.
Separately, governor of Kabul, Mohammad Yaqub ended all rumors of lifting the lockdown during Eid by ordering to extend the measures even after end of the holy month of Ramadan. He said there would be strict measures in place to implement the lockdown during Eid to help stop spread of the coronavirus.
