COVID-19: Number of patients crosses 2000

KABUL (SW) – In the past 24 hours, 232 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in 20 provinces, according to the Ministry of Public Health.

In terms of the numbers, capital Kabul remains at the front followed by Herat, Balkh and Kandahar provinces.

Wahidullah Majroh, deputy minister at the Ministry of Public Health, told a news conference on Thursday that 45 people got infected with the virus in Kandahar, 41 in Balkh, 34 in Herat, 20 in Kabul, 12 in Ghazni and 10 people each in Paktia and Logar.

Additionally, nine people each got infected in Samangan and Panjshir, 8 people in Takhar, 7 people in Kunduz, five people in Nangarhar and Baghlan, four people in Badghis and Maidan Wardak, 3 people in Laghman, two people in Paktika and Parwan and one each in Sar-e-Pul and Faryab provinces.

With the registration of these case, the number of people infected with the COVID-19 in Afghanistan has reached to 2,171.

Majroh further said that four patients have recovered in Kabul and two died in Herat and Kabul.

According to the Ministry of Public Health, the total number of casualties in the country has reached 64 and the number of recovered patients has reached to 260.
