Couple killed under suspicious circumstances in Herat

HERAT CITY (SW): A police source in Herat province has said a young couple has been killed for honor in Anjil district.

Abdul Ahad Walizada, provincial governor’s spokesman, said the couple were missing from Herat city, and their bodies were recovered from Anjil district late on Wednesday.

Mohammad Rafiq Sherzai, Herat’s general hospital spokesman, said the two were named “Ali Reza” and “Safia”, they were 25 and 19 year-old respectively. “The motive behind the killing is unknown”, added Sherzia.

The National Directorate of Security (NDS) sources have said the male victim was an employee of the Directorate. Investigation into the incident has initiated.
