GARDEZ (SW): Corruption worth five million afghanis has been committed at the Paktia Aali Darul Moalimeen (Institute for Higher-Intermediate Studies), an official told Salam Watandar.
Al-Ameer Bahramzai, chairman for the provincial council, said district directors for education had lodge complaints on multiple occasions against lack of supplies. He added that upon investigation it revealed corruption worth millions have been committed at the provincial Institute for Higher-Intermediate Studies. Calling for stern actions against those involved, Bahramzai feared the corrupt individuals might get away with their crimes.
Shamim Katawazai, the provincial governor, has directed uncompromising actions against the perpetrators. During his visit, the governor vowed those involved in this case would soon be referred to the judicial organs. He noted up to AFN 11 million were granted to the Institute for Higher-Intermediate Studies, but less than 50 per cent has been utilized. Katawazi asserted over invoicing has been done in a bid to cover-up for the embezzlement.
Salam Watandar wished to have the views of Mohammad Ayub, director for the Institute for Higher-Intermediate Studies, but to no avail.
