FARAH CITY (SW): Provincial Council members and common citizens in Farah city expressed their deep concerns over insecurity in the province.
They said that the Taliban have reached close to the provincial capital. The Provincial Council members stated that Taliban have brought as many as 4 villages under their control in the outskirt of the city, and are just 3 kilometers away from the city center.
Farid Ahmed Bakhtor, the head for Farah Provincial Council told Salam Watandar that the Taliban have reached near the city center, and the city may fall to the Taliban. Kher Mohammed Nawrozi, a member of the Provincial Council, stated that so far the Afghan National Security and Defense Forces (ANSDF) have not been able to push the Taliban back. He said that intense fighting is going on the outskirts of the Farah city.
In the meantime, a number of Farah residents have expressed their deep concerns over the security state in the city. These residents asked that government to save Farah from falling to the Taliban.
Meanwhile, Toryali Ubidyani, the police chief in Farah, stated that the security forces have control over key points in Farah city, and operation is underway in the suburbs of the city.
Ubidyani pointed that during the last 24 hours, 40 Taliban militants have been killed and 20 more have been wounded.
