KABUL (SW) – A number of complaints of alleged rigging against electoral commission officials lack proper documents, an Independent Election Complaint Commission official said on Thursday.
Mohammad Qasim Elyasi, an IECC commissioner, said some of these complaints are referred to this body without proper compiling of documents.
It is important to note that the Independent Election Commission chief, Hava Alam Nuristani, announced last month that a total of 12,650 electoral commission employees have been referred to the complaint commission for alleged vote fraud.
Elyasi said the IEC should properly compile the charge-sheet dossiers of these rather than leaving this daunting task for the IECC.
Commenting on this, Yosuf Rasheed, head of the Free and Fair Election Foundation of Afghanistan, said this is indeed an unprofessional work by the IEC.
The presidential polls were held on Sep. 28, but the recount of votes and preliminary results became controversial with a number of candidates not accepting the outcome.
