KABUL (SW): The fact-finding commission into the Deh Mazang carnage began its work here on Tuesday.
Members of the fact-finding commission held a press conference here in Kabul. This 15-member commission has been formed on the directives of the President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani following twin blasts that ripped through Junbish Roshnayee’s demonstration at Deh Mazang on Saturday leaving as many as 80 people dead and 200 more wounded.
Mohammad Farid Hamidi, the Attorney General, has been appointed to chair the commission. He is expected to impartially investigate the case.
After the commission completes its probe, it would share its finding with media and public. The Attorney General stated that all the members of the fact-finding commission are committed and independent who would not be influenced by anyone in their investigations.
President Ghani, however, had tasked a fact-finding commissions on Kunduz’s brief fall to the militants as well, which bore no substantial result.
The Attorney General, nonetheless, assured that the fact-finding commission on Deh Mazang carnage would differ from the previous ones. He added that this commission would prosecute the perpetrators and anyone who was involved in the tragic incident. The members of the commission asked citizens to cooperate with the commission.
