KABUL (SW) – A number of Wolesi Jirga (lower house) members on Saturday claimed the budget of Code-91 has been used for personal objectives by the government.
In today’s session, the house’s finance and budget commission presented repot on government spending for the past year. As per the report by Mohammad Azeem Mohsini, head of the finance and budget commission, AFN 1.91 billion were earmarked for the President and Chief Executive from the Code-91 while up to AFN 1.7 million additional were diverted from other heads of budget to Code-91 during the year.
Mohsini claimed the Code-91 has been used for personal objectives. He added that up to AFN 1.6 billion have been diverted to the Code-91 in this year’s budget on top of the AFN 1 billion of its own budget. He dubbed it unprecedented.
Meanwhile, Shamroz Khan Masjidi, finance ministry spokesman clarified the Code-91 has not been used for personal gains. The house decided to summon Humayun Qayumi, interim minister for finance, on this matter for further clarification.
