JALALABAD (SW): A local elderly man Faqeerullh has spent some 11 days in Upper Pacher area in Nangarhar province under the influence of the pro-Daesh rebels.
Narrating the ordeal, he told Salam Watandar that he together with 18 members of his family was caught in their home when the militants stormed the area. He added that the armed rebels nabbed him early in the morning and asked him to open the doors to his home.
When I resisted, they blew the door with bombs and took away all 30 sheeps and two cows with them, they said it all now belong to them as ‘Ghanemat’ (material left from the enemies during wars), he said. The old man added that his wife is missing ever since she went after the militants in a bid to reclaim the herd. Two of Faqirullah’s grandsons, who got injured due to the firing by the militants, are also missing.
The frightened man went on to say that though the militants claim to be defenders of Islam but he never heard them call for prayers or hold Friday prayers. A female member of this family told Salam Watandar that during all 11 days under the Daesh occupation, she had nothing to cook or to feed the children, and instead relied on dry bread and water alone.
A young man of this family, who is serving with the Afghan National Security and Defense Forces (ANSDF), said that he saw the militants with long hairs wearing black colored cloths and military uniforms. The young man said most of these militants were Pakistanis and Uzbekistanis, and were heavily equipped with small and heavy rifles.
This war-weary family is now residing in the Behsud district of the province, and is in dire need of help.
According to the provincial authorities, the ragging violence has formed some 1200 families from the Pacheer Aw Gam district to flee their homes. Mir Baaz Khan, the chief for Pacheer Aw Gam district has said that the militants have taken away with them 61 tribal elders. He said that these men are under the militants’ captivity in Achin district.
