PUL-I-KHUMRI (SW): Hundreds of residents of Burk district in Baghlan province have been displaced due to a conflict between a local commander and the district police chief.

The residents told Salam Watandar that it has been several days since armed men associated with a local commander are fighting against the local police chief due to a personal vendetta. At least 300 families are displaced as result of this.

Enayatullah Burhani, a local resident, said many houses are destroyed as heavy arms have been used by the two sides.

Mullah Amir, the local commander, has blamed Mohammad Ali, the district police chief, for causing the troubles. He charged the police chief for having a hand in killing his close friends. “I have kept the central government, the defense and interior ministries in the loop, but no action has been taken”, added Amir.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Ali, the district police chief, has denied the allegations. He said all his moves are in line with the directions from the provincial police chief against illegal armed men. The district police chief charged Mullah Amir for extortion and bullying common people.
