KABUL (SW): Civil society activists in Kabul denounced the Taliban for hanging a student to death and not handing his body over for burial in Maidan Wardak province.
The Taliban on Saturday said they publicly hanged a university student for ‘spying on one of their intelligence officials’. Faiz ur Rehman was a 4th year engineering student of the Kabul Polytechnic University, who a Taliban spokesperson claimed had killed Intelligence chief Dr. Mirwais and another Taliban man in Maidan Wardak province.
Denouncing it, a number of civil society activists gathered in Kabul under the banner “what was my fault?” They urged the government to ensure justice and burial of Faiz ur Rehman. Speakers said on the occasion that the body of the unfortunate boy is still hanging.
Hameeda Wardak, a member of the civil society, said that the victim’s family wants an honorable burial for their loved one. She urged upon the government to take immediate measure for this. Eng. Sher Ahmad Faizi, another member of the civil society noted that the militants want to spread fear with such brazen acts.
