KABUL (SW): A number of civil society activists gathered in the capital Kabul on Thursday to denounce the spate of violence and particularly condemn the brazen militant attack that rocked Kabul last week.
At the Zarnigar Park, the protestors held posters of the victims and chanted slogans against the militants. In this attack aimed at the employees of the National Directorate of Security (NDS), some 64 people lost lives and more than 300 got wounded. The demonstrators urged the government to hold those responsible for the attacks to justice.
Addressing the gathering, Abdul Latif Pidram, member of the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) said that the government seems failed in ensuring safety and security of the citizen. “Perpetrators of the attack in Kabul should be brought to justice”, he demanded.
Meanwhile, a number of political parties have expressed their support for the President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani’s latest stance against terrorism in the country. In a support rally, Mohammad Ummar Ayar, Head of the Afghanistan Unity Party (AUP) condemned the Kabul attack and called it a barbaric act. “We condemn the attack and support the latest stand of the Government of National Unity and the remarks by the President Ashraf Ghani”, he said.
The moot also expressed solidarity with the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) and called for more support for the security and defense forces.
