MAHMOOD RAQI (SW): Local authorities in Kapisa province reported that the provincial chief of Ulema Council (religious council) was gunned down by unknown armed assailants on Saturday morning.
Qais Qaderi, the provincial governor’s spokesman, talking to Salam Watandar informed that Mawlawi Gul Mohammad Hanifyar, the chief of Ulema Council of Kapisa, was shot dead along with his bodyguard by armed men on a motorcycle in Khamrobai village of Hisa-i-Awal Kohistan district around 7 a.m. on Saturday. “An investigation has been launched to arrest the assailants”, assured Qaderi.
So far no group has taken the responsibility of the incident.
