KABUL (SW): Mujib Rahman Rahimi, spokesman for the Chief Executive Officer, has said changing the presidential system into parliamentary system remains the objective of the CEO.
Addressing a presser here on Thursday, Rahimi said CEO is at the forefront of efforts to change presidential system to parliamentary system. He said commitment is there for decentralization and amendments in the Constitution. “It is common to have differences in unity governments, the NUG was established by an agreement, and if we had support from everyone, the desired goals would have been realized months ago”, added Rahimi.
Similar views were expressed by former vice president Yunus Qanoni in a separate press conference. He was joined by female member of the Wolesi Jirga Fawza Kofi and other politicians. They viewed parliamentary system suitable for the diverse Afghan society.
This comes at a time when differences between the leaders of the Jamiat-e-Islami Afghanistan, including CEO Abdullah Abdullah and acting governor of Balkh Atta Mohammad Noor, have emerged in public. After negotiations with President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, Noor has hinted to quit his current post and come to Kabul.
