Carlos Nuzman charged with corruption; payment of bribery for hosting the Rio Olympics 2016

KABUL(SW): Carlos Nuzman, the former head of the Brazilian Olympic Committee was formally charged by the court for paying $ 2 million to host the Olympics in Rio.

The Brazilian police in a raid last month, found $118 thousand cash in the dressing cabinets inside his personal home. After that, the police seized Carlos Nuzman’s passport and summoned him for further investigations.

Last year, in addition to Brazil, Chicago in USA, Tokyo in Japan, and Spain in Madrid were nominated for hosting the 2016 Olympic Games, and Brazil become the first South American Country to host the Olympics.

 Sergio Cabral, the former governor of Rio state is also sentenced to 14 years in prison for helping the former head of the Brazilian Olympic Committee.

“I defend my honor and prove that I am innocent,” Mr. Nuzman said a while ago when he stepped down from his position. He said: “I do this before the hearing in the court. I show to all men and women who play sports that I was innocent. My leave from the Brazilian Olympic Committee will continue until I show that injustice is done to me”.
