KABUL (SW): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Saturday launched second round of campaign against smuggling, inflation in prices and forging of medicines across the country.
Noor Shah Kamawaal, head of the National Medicine Health Products Regulatory Authority, said on the occasion the aim of this drive is to ensure quality and fair price of medicines and other health products. He added pharmacies would be strictly monitored to ensure compliance with set rules and regulations, especially clear marking on the labels about the price and quality.
He noted some facilities have established on the outskirts of the city where medicine is produced and kept in poor conditions. The NMHPRA head urged the producers, importers and distributers to take this campaign seriously.
For the execution of the campaign, 153 health workers have been trained in different provinces, and eight zones have been marked in the capital Kabul for implementation.
He acknowledged the MoPH lacks capacity to properly regulate the whole medicine and health products market.
