PUL-I-ALAM/KHOST CITY/SHARANA (SW): Thousands of protestors took to the streets in southeastern Logar, Khost and Paktika provinces urging the government to proceed with the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Tajikistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TUTAP) project via the Salang Pass.
The participants also called for the trial of those responsible for disgrace to the President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in London earlier this week.
The participants charged that if the government, under pressure from those opposing Salang Pass, decided to alter the route to Bamiyan province, they would continue with the protests and march towards the capital Kabul.
Abdul Wali Wahidzai, head of the Khost provincial council, told journalists on the occasion that their humbleness should not be taken as weakness. Similar protests were staged in Pul-i-Alam and Sharana.
