GHAZNI (SW) – The provincial administration in restive Ghazni province has called for targeting the sources of financial income for the Talibal rebels.
Addressing a consultative gathering in connection with the peace efforts here on Sunday, Waheedullah Kaleemzay, provincial governor, said the security forces have been directed to target the financial resources of the rebels. He said the Taliban here are financially backed by influential individuals in cities and villages. The governor said those collecting funds for the Taliban should also be targeted.
The governor also urged local tribal elders to extend genuine cooperation towards the government in ensuring peace and stability.
Fareed Mashal, provincial police chief, stressed all resources would be utilized to dry down the financial resources of the Taliban and to target those associated with the rebels.
