GARDEZ/ MAZAR-I-SHARIF (SW) – Hundreds of Paktia and Balkh provinces staged separate demonstrations to mark the National Security Forces Day on Wednesday.
Participants of these demonstrations urged the government to provide better resources and facilities to the security forces.
Janat Khan Mangal, a local elder, said while addressing the gathering that the security forces are paying sacrifices with their bloods to safeguard the citizens, and the government should take very good care of the families of the security forces. He stressed the government should also think and take effective measures to bring down casualties among the security forces.
He specifically called for supplying more helicopters for the 203 – Thunder Corps of the Afghan National Army.
Paktia governor, Shamim Khan Katawazi, vowed to provide residential plots and free healthcare services for the security forces.
In Mazar-e-Sharif, capital of Balkh province, a similar gathering was organized to hail the services and sacrifices of the security forces.
Few weeks back, Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai, deputy head of the Taliban’s Qatar office, said the current security establishment needs to be dissolved. These comments sparked stark criticism from the residents.
