KABUL (SW) – A civil society group, De Ghazni Wolasono Ghag (voice of Ghazni residents) has called for inclusive aid and support for the war-weary civilians in the restive province.
Dr. Taher, a leader of this civil society, told a moot here on Thursday 14 out of 18 districts in the province inhabited by the Pashtun community are reeling from violence and bloodshed since over a decade. He said many districts still remain under the control of the Taliban.
He claimed the war in the province’s Jaghori district was a ‘politically orchestrated one’. Dr. Taher said state resources have been put at the disposal for salvaging and strengthening warlords in the province while the Pashtun-inhabited districts continue to reel from unrest and destruction.
According to this civil society group, out of the 72 development projects executed in the whole province last year, only three were in the Pashtu-inhabited areas while the rest of 69 were executed in the three districts based on ethnic and linguistic discrimination.
It noted up to 12,00 families are displaced in these districts.
Mohammad Rafiqu Ezat, another member of the civil society, said the Ghazni residents would not tolerate up-gradation of Jaghori to the level of a province. He said the Muqar district of the province is a much better alternate for this up-gradation.
This group also called for peace in the province and job opportunities for the Ghazni youth.
