KABUL (SW) – The Afghanistan Protection and Stability Council has called for swift announcement of fair election results.
Massoud Tarshtwaal, spokesman for the council, said at a presser here on Wednesday that the electoral commissions need to ensure fairness and impartiality in the process. He added the commissions need to prove their credibility through practical independence.
Expressing a certain level of confidence in the election commissions, he stressed there was a need to vividly separate the clean votes from the rigged ones. Tarshtwaal added legal arguments should be given more importance over political ones in connection with the proposed outcome of the polls.
The Afghanistan Protection and Stability Council has demanded all politicians to allow the electoral commissions execute their tasks properly so that the national interests are not undermined. Tarshtwaal said the results should be acceptable to all, and an inclusive government should be formed in the future.
The presidential candidates have been time and again advised not to make premature claims of victory or engaging in blame game.
