FAIZ ABAD (SW) – Dozens of protesters on Saturday called for the resignation of the governor in Badakhshan province.
This comes following exchange of fire between the security forces and the guards of the Faiz Abad mayor, in the city that left many people injured. The protesters said poor management of affairs by the governor has resulted in growing rift between the masses and the government.
The protesters said growing insecurity and the Taliban closing in on Faiz Abad city coupled with administrative corruption have further irked the Badakhshan residents.
Meanwhile, Nek Mohammad Nazari, spokesman for the provincial governor, stressed protest is the right of citizens, and if the agitators have documented proof against the governor, they should present it to the government.
The protesters, however, claim the ineffectiveness of the governor is an evident fact, and they would not end demonstrations until their demand is not met.
