27/05/2019

KABUL (SW) – Family members and friends of a policeman killed in Faryab province on Monday staged a demonstration in Kabul for justice.

They said the deceased policeman Ghulam Faroq and his brother Ahmad Taher have been killed by men associated with an outlawed armed commander in Maimana, provincial capital of Faryab province. They urged the government to take swift measures for accountability and justice or they would take things in their own hands.

When contacted, Abdul Muqeem, deputy governor of Faryab, said President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has issued directives for immediate actions in this case. He said one suspect has been taken into custody and efforts are underway to arrest a number of other suspects.

The two men were killed in 8th district of Maimana city on Sunday evening by men associated with an outlawed armed commander.
