10/03/2019

KABUL (SW) – President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has called for clearing ambiguities related to the peace process and serious debate on Pakistan’s ties with the terrorist groups.

Addressing a gathering in connection with the International Women Day at Arg (presidential palace), he said the presence of the international troops can be debated upon, however, serious international discussions are needed to emphasis on the ties between Pakistan and the Taliban.

He clarified the state of Afghanistan is maintaining ties with the world based on clearly defined principles, however, the terrorists’ ties with certain countries should be clarified. President Ghani feared insecurity and violence would increase if the peace process is not taken forward carefully. He also highlighted the National Unity Government’s achievements in regard to women empowerment and representation in the public sector.

In a separate gathering, Mohammad Haneef Atmar, former National Security Adviser, said at least 150,000 Afghans, including women and children, have died in the past five years. He blamed corruption and nominal representation of women in the public sector for leaving negative impacts on the lives of women in the country.

He said the NUG leaders are inaugurating old projects simply to disguise the masses.
