KABUL (SW): Mohammad Masoum Stanikzai, caretaker Minister for Defense told a Masharajo Jirga (upper house of the parliament) committee on Monday that many aspects of the Bilateral Security Agreement (BSA) with the United States remain to be implemented.
Stanikzai was addressing the Foreign Affairs Committee of the MJ. He told the committee that the BSA was nicely under implementation, especially in regard to assistance for artillery and heavy arms.
The caretaker minister noted that cooperation for the Afghan Air Force (AAF) remains to be seen.
He said the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) faced no issues in terms of transportation but it has literally no control over fighting jets.
He informed the committee that the assault groups of the ANSF have been equipped with 140 armored vehicles and the ground troops would follow the suit soon.
The caretaker minister urged the regional countries to help and assist Afghanistan in the war against terrorism. It is vital to note that the house’s Foreign Affairs Committee asked the U.S. to provide necessary support for the ANSF till the year 2020.
