KANDAHAR CITY/ GARDEZ (SW): Following tension at the eastern Torkham crossing point with Pakistan, additional troops have been deployed at the Dand-e-Pathan in Paktia and Spin Boldak in Kandahar provinces.
Emerging reports suggest Pakistan has deployed additional troops at the Spin Boldak crossing point with Afghanistan in the south.
Similar arrangements have been made by the Afghan government by directing the Afghan Border Police (ABP) to be on high alert in Kandahar.
Razaq Barq, Salam Watandar’s freelance contributor in Quetta has informed that a large number of border forces from both countries have arrived at the Wesh-Spin Boldak crossing point at the Durand Line.
Separately, officials in the south eastern Paktia province have said that Pakistani forces wished to erect military installations at the zero point on Dand-e-Pathan crossing point.
Qadir Gul Zadran, security chief for Paktia said that the Afghan Border Police stopped this move by the Pakistani forces. “They tried to establish new installments within near 150 meter to the Durand Line but we stopped them”, he said.
This comes days after on and off deadly skirmishes at the Torkham crossing point between the two countries.
