KANDAHAR CITY (SW): The Kandahar Municipality recently concluded a three-day campaign against stray dogs in the city but the residents complain the leftover of this campaign is a nuisance.
There have been reports about bunch of targeted stray dogs lying on various parts of the city. The provincial environment protection agency too is wary about the prevailing situation in this regard.
Mohammad Ghulam Roshan, head of this agency told Salam Watandar that there are enough resources available to target the stray dogs but now there is a dire need to remove the targeted stray dogs from the streets.
Zemaray Sargand, spokesman for the provincial governor admits that ‘some dogs’ might not be removed from the street but it is simply a coincident and not a deliberate act. He however, asked the citizens to inform the municipality officials about the exact locations where stray dogs are still lying on the streets causing troubles to the citizens.
Dr. Mohammad Nadir, head of provincial public health department believed that the issue can lead to a serious health problem in the city. He called for the need to immediately remove the bodies of stray dogs from the streets.
