JALALABAD (SW): Multiple blasts at a sports facility in Jalalabad city late on Friday killed eight people and wounded more than 40 others.
Attaullah Khogyani, spokesman for the provincial governor, informed among the dead include organizer of the Ramadan night cricket tournament Hidayatullah, and Dr. Nekmal, deputy mayor of Mehtarlam city. The blasts ripped through a crowd of cricket lovers gathered in a cricket ground near the Behsud Bridge.
Dr. Najibullah Kamawal, head of the directorate of public health, has confirmed the death toll. He said seven wounded people are in critical state.
The Taliban have rejected their involvement in this incident. There has been no immediate claim of responsibility.
