HERAT (SW) – At least five people got killed and 20 others got injured following an explosion in Herat’s Ooba district, officials confirmed on Saturday.
Abdul Hakeem Tamana, director public health, told Salam Watandar the incident took place in the district market where a motorcycle packed with explosives exploded. He feared the death toll might rise.
The incident took place close to the district public hospital, he added.
Spokesman for the provincial governor, Jailani Farhad, said a child and an elderly man are among those wounded in this blast.
Reports suggest the district governor was the target of this attack.
The remote Ooba district is among the restive parts of Herat province.
