FAIZABAD(SW): Shah Wali Adib, acting governor in Badakhshah, told Salam Watandar that hundreds of armed militants who were besieged by security forces in Jurm village, managed to escape.
Security officials said that it is not clear how they found their way out of the siege.
Shah Wali said that the insurgents were still roaming around freely in various parts of the Warduj, Baharak, Raghistan, Tagab, Keshim and Shuhada. “Intense fighting is underway in these areas”, he said.
Elsewhere in northern Kunduz province, reports suggest that sporadic fighting was still underway in some parts of the provincial capital.
According to the locals, Taliban were still in command of the Takharistan High School, public hospital and the Bandar-e-Kabul area.
The Kunduz Police Headquarters however, claimed in a statement that the security forces full control over Kunduz City.
