KUNDUZ (SW) – To the surprise and anger of many, the directorate of communication and information technology in Kunduz has shared personal details of hundreds of residents.
Those individuals who have applied for passports in Kunduz province now have their names, passport numbers and other basic personal details on the directorate’s sites.
Akhtar Mohammad Akhtar, head of the directorate of communication and information technology in Kunduz, told Salam Watandar the reason behind this move is to ensure better delivery of services. He said this would allow applicants to collect their passports in time.
Regarding public resentment towards this move, spokesman for the provincial governor, Esmat Morady, clarified any move causing concerns among the public would be addressed at the earliest.
Kunduz residents fear the details about their basic information in the public domain might cause them harm from terrorist and criminal groups.
